A mata is a traditional instrument from the Mediterranean Island of Papland where the Jabueda Street Festival takes place.

A famous traditional tune, "Stramas Gala," is notable for using the mata as its lead instrument. It even contains the line "Mapa's mata," where Mapa is a legendary mata player.
